A Kingdom Perspective in Fundraising: Humility

  • As fundraisers we can contribute to the development of a kingdom mindset as we minister to our donors. The third idea is humility.
  • Humility
  • Fortunately God’s kingdom does not revolve around our ministry. This is a good thing, because none of us could survive that kind of pressure. However, it is easy to act like it does depend on us when our zeal and fear cause us to exclude others from our relational portfolio. We receive gifts to give gifts, but when we think that all we have is for ourselves, we are prideful and short-circuit the expansion of His kingdom. When we walk in humility, however, we look to the needs of others before ourselves (Philippians 2:4-5).
  • Who can I bless by praying for the needs of their ministry in Jesus’ name?

A Kingdom Perspective in Fundraising: Passion

  • Here are a few ways we can develop a kingdom mindset in our fundraising as we minister to our donors. The second idea is passion.
  • Passion
  • Nothing is more exciting than seeing a person connect with his or her passion. It may be the discipleship of children, teenage evangelism, serving the poor and needy, marriage renewal, financial stewardship, or world missions, just to name a very few.
  • But to see someone engage financially, spiritually, and emotionally, this is what brings life to this person’s Christian faith and puts a smile on the face of our heavenly Father. The value of your relationship with a donor compounds when you help God’s people give to and grow with others within the Body of Christ.
  • What are the passion points of the donors I know? What opportunities can I introduce them to that reflect their passions?

A Kingdom Perspective in Fundraising: Diversification

  • Here are a few ways we can develop a kingdom mindset in our fundraising as we minister to our donors. The first idea is diversification:
  • Diversification
    • One critical aspect as we minister to the donor is to educate and expose him or her to strategic opportunities of investing within God’s kingdom. Would you trust a financial advisor who suggested investing all of your money in the stock of only one company? Of course not. With kingdom thinking we should encourage donors to invest in many ministries. Not only do we want donors to spread out the risk, but also we want donors to enjoy abundance and a variety of blessings and relationships.
      • Common sense and experience tell us that wise donors will and should give to several ministries. Why not help introduce them to the hearts of godly people you know who are trusting God for His provision?
        • What ministry can I bless by introducing them to one of my donor relationships?
