Donor Etiquette - Part 5 of 5

Last week I had the privilege of interviewing Linda Rogers for our webinar,

  • “Friend Raising: Promoting Relationships with Major Donors.”
  • Linda’s fundraising experience includes:
  • • 21 years with Walk Thru the Bible / raising an annual average of $1.5 million
  • • 17 years as Senior Development Director and “Friend Raiser”
  • Listen free to her one-hour interview.
  • Below are some excerpts from her outline:
  • • Never, never use an electronic signature.
  • • Always write your name on the outside of their envelope so they immediately
  • know they are receiving communication from a friend, not an organization.
  • They should never feel like a number or just another name in the database.
  • • Be faithful in handling “small” gifts. According to Jesus, the widow gave more than
  • the rich because she gave out of her need, but they gave out of their plenty.
  • • Create an event where your donors can come together for a “family reunion”
  • with other donors, board of directors, and staff. This time could be a fundraising
  • dinner or a weekend event. The weekend event gives your ministry more time to
  • “show and tell.”
  • • Personally donate to your ministry. If you don’t donate, why would you solicit
  • funds from others?
  • More about The Art of Recognizing and Thanking Your Donors
