Donor Etiquette - Part 5 of 5
Last week I had the privilege of interviewing Linda Rogers for our webinar,
- “Friend Raising: Promoting Relationships with Major Donors.”
- Linda’s fundraising experience includes:
- • 21 years with Walk Thru the Bible / raising an annual average of $1.5 million
- • 17 years as Senior Development Director and “Friend Raiser”
- Listen free to her one-hour interview.
- Below are some excerpts from her outline:
- • Never, never use an electronic signature.
- • Always write your name on the outside of their envelope so they immediately
- know they are receiving communication from a friend, not an organization.
- They should never feel like a number or just another name in the database.
- • Be faithful in handling “small” gifts. According to Jesus, the widow gave more than
- the rich because she gave out of her need, but they gave out of their plenty.
- • Create an event where your donors can come together for a “family reunion”
- with other donors, board of directors, and staff. This time could be a fundraising
- dinner or a weekend event. The weekend event gives your ministry more time to
- “show and tell.”
- • Personally donate to your ministry. If you don’t donate, why would you solicit
- funds from others?
